Saturday eve

Well I will start this morning. I got up and had much to do around the hogan here in Tsaile, AZ and much I did. But straight to the wool of the fleece? Much cleaning this morning to prepare for my project of learning to wash, clean, and organize my wool and alpaca fleeces. It is exciting to work with such wonderful fiber and the end produce will be well worth the effort. However I got to start my routine of my cultivation of hatha yoga this evening and feel very comfortable with myself, physical and mental. So on Sunday I will start working on this project again. I had a little help from a school mate and was glad that I am heading in the eight direction with this works. I will have to end here and get some rest, oh here are some photos of the washing and dry. There are plenty of web sites that guide in the cleaning process so no need for details. Good night.

Good Winter Break to all the Students, I am starting my first week of my break learning how to prepare and spin wool, alpaca fleeces into the finest yarn that the creator could make. Thanks to my little cousin brother Nikyle for the fleeces of churro wool and alpaca. So pretty much have to get my fleece clean of plant fiber then, the supplies to wash and condition. I will take photos and keep everyone updated. The main idea I have of learning such a process is to understand more of what my grandmother have to deal with her handmade rugs and care for her sheep and goats. This is what I grew around but never thought of working with this way of life. So I will be prepared to help her in the future and be able to understand the responsible of have livestock as a livelihood. Will keep ya all updated.

Beanies and beings?

I'm back in fall session and enjoying every moment, plus hope all my classmates are enjoying themselves. Everything work out the first week of class and got my texts without breaking the bank. Classes are working out for the best I couldn't even imagine any better. Pretty happy that the A.B.N.D.C. member voted elected me a Treasurer and some younger brothers as officers, that I know will full-fill our belief. I know I will enjoy the position and the challenges that come with the responsibility. On my personal business I am working on request for knitted articles of clothing, like beanies, finger-less gloves, and also scarves. Most of the yarn I use is wool, natural material and try to stay away from non natural yarn. Much of my work I have to balance between school and my other obligations. So don't be shy to e-mail or message me. See ya soon.

Chinle Valley

Greetings,
I haven't written a blog for a scorching spell. I haven't had much to blog about these past two month. I just enrolled for the 2nd session of Dine College's summer session. For the month of July, however this is appointed in Chinle and the other class in Tsaile. All together 6 hours for the summer.
So I'm back in my home grounds, Many Farms and the Chinle Valley. My Aunt through clan wise; is helping me with a place to camp. So I will be travel via Navajo Nation Transit to Tsaile then in the evening to Chinle High, from Many Farms. I don't know how this is going to work, but I have to try.
I have a few project with my knitting, and will inform on that another time. But I will post some photos. I've been taking. This is my front door view.

Final Two Weeks

Hello Folks

Today is Saturday and I am here at Dine College dorm about to start my day with a paper that is due next Wednesday. There is also my Intermeide Algebra course that I have to study for, but on the personal side of business I have finish my scarf that I mention about in a earlier post. That scarf turned out to be 70 inches long and I think 8 inches wide. I have to say that the scarf is very beautiful and is a piece unto its self, which anyone can purchase for 40 pesos.

The Scarf? I have thought of this a lot the past few weeks of knitting and clothing oneself with a wool scarf. I have found bearing a scarf is more than fashion, it does come very useful protecting the body against the elements. Here in Northeast Arizona the weather is very unpredictable and can make life miserable, if not properly clothed. The scarf has protect be against cold dry wind, dusty dirty gust, skin burning UV rays, and keeping dry and warm in only the coldest rain. I also found it useful not only in the environment, but in the home or classroom. I have had to use as a cloth with you can't find a tissue, and why use tissue if you can just wash the cloth. I've use before to remove scolding hot pan off the stove; however I say, wool is the best and doesn't show the heavy use that other material would show.

I've been back to my grandparent's home over

the weekends went I could make it. And it is that time of the season when the livestock are bringing new life in the world and I am happy to share with you. I had problems with my new camera but did get some photos of them. soon I will been posting move photo. But thanks again for viewing my blog postings.

Wooly toes

Hey Everybody!

I have been pretty busy lately with all of my class homework. Much going on in my life at this time, however I enjoy the challenge. One of the classes I enjoy the most is my sculpture class, which is where I release built up energy from the frustrations of student life. This week here at Dine College we are having an art show this week I will post the flier. There is an artist that will be there discussing his work and would like to attend. However, I have plans and won't be able to attend the art show in the evening.
In my personal time I have been work on learning how to spin my own yarn and can't wait to start. So over the past weekend I went to the hardware store and had to find material to construct my own first spindle. I do enjoy working with wood and the material I am using to construct the spindle is oak. This is going to be a first for me, so I will be learning from the ground up. I've taken some photos of the spindle.
Schacht Navajo Hand Spindle

On my knitting projects side I have been slowly making progress with my grey scarf, usually it takes me about 45 minutes to work about 2-3 inch with the size knitting needles I am using. Which is size 8 needles and 36 stitches in width. I've completed the gloves and give to a friend in need of a good cycling gloves. I am currently working on a pair of sock now, and happy with my progress. I will post some photos when complete.
I forgot to mention that I have two sculpture pieces on display at the art, so be free to join along and enjoy the other artists work. Bye!

Fingerless gloves pattern

Here are photos of a scarf and fingerless glove I am currently working on between classes and homework. Enjoy the photos.

I got a little head of my self with the pattern for the glove, but with that I have my own first pattern I can personal call my own. I have just started on the second pair yesterday and will soon be done with that project. Both threads are 60% alpaca and 40% merino wool, also the scarf is different shades of color. The threads are nature color so they are the best, with nothing add,  just craftsmanship and knitted in American.

SK8 OR DIE

About four years ago, I and my best bros created  this skate video. I filmed and edited, but the most of the hard work was accomplished by them. I am creating a presentation for my Intro to Computers Class about publishing a video and this is going to me my example. It was filmed in the Chinle Valley and if you enjoy, please support your local youth and rate.

Good morning. Ha!

FIRST TRY, AAAHHHHH!!
36 stitches

I am up late working on my first pair gloves and gathering my thoughts. That is how the earth we live on turns. There is a tangle of thread in each persons life, but we must work hard and mediate on the "now". But if we are lost in the past, it is as if we are working with a tangled ball of yarn that was so easy to make. Taking seven hundred time longer to untangle.  However if we try hard enough and the best we can, we will get through that wad of yarn. Sometime that wad will pull our strings, and if we let that thread pull us around we must not reaction in frustration. Just stay focus on the end result of your work and the quality produced.

The Green Scarf

Ya'at'eeh

How is everyone doing? I've been busy traveling today; early this morning had to get up and catch the Navajo Nation Transit to go to Gallup for supplies for the coming week at Dine College. However quiet an average day to say the least.

The stitch is a checkers pattern and I believe taken about 4 to 5 hour to complete. However this is my green scarf and will be sporting around the campus grounds, its does come in handy went photography in the cold wind. Check the video. I will leave it at that today, and your comment would be gratefully contemplated.  Thank you and Hagoonee.
